Why We Changed our Name from uRefer to Amplifinity

When uRefer launched in 2007, our founders were excited to build referral programs that would generate powerful, far-reaching consumer-to-consumer recommendations for our clients’ brands. Our name said it all – we were the experts in enterprise-class referral programs.
But we had an epiphany: Real success comes when we stop focusing solely on the referral campaign and start focusing on the advocates, and how different they are. Sure, our clients had advocates who would send a direct referral to friends. But they also had advocates who preferred to leave a testimonial or publish a review. They had advocates who were active on social networks and others who would rather talk to their friends offline - advocates from their customer base, but also their employees and partners. . .
We also learned that every time someone makes a referral (or 5!), posts a recommendation, or writes a testimonial, they are revealing something about themselves. They are showing what they like to talk about, what motivates them to spread the word, and what kinds of tools they want to use to reach out to their friends.
It became clear to us that when given this data, companies could effectively target their advocates with the conversations and offers that mattered to them through the mediums that they preferred to use when sharing with their friends.
Our epiphany led us to this reality: We can do more for our clients. Our team of technologists has developed software that can do even more than generate referrals for you. We’ve gone far beyond the concept of refer-a-friend programs, and as a result, the name uRefer doesn’t reflect how we think of ourselves– or how our clients think of us. We know you’ll be pleased when you hear about everything we can do for your company.
