This affirming infographic from Mashable Business shows how social media impacts purchases during the highest traffic period of the year - the holidays. Of special note, 80% of consumers who received a response from a brand to their online query or comment on Twitter or Facebook, made a purchase as a result of their interaction! If this doesn't prove that paying attention to your customers and creating relationships with them doesn't generate Word of Mouth, you're missing the proverbial boat and sail/sale (pardon the pun).
